Freed Associates

  • Independent Subcontractor

    Independent Subcontractor
    Northern California
  • Overview

Our clients’ employees are typically quite good at managing the day-to-day, recurring activities needed to run their operation. However, many of these employees have comparatively less experience at managing cross-functional, time sensitive, one-time projects that are unlikely to be repeated again.  This is where we step in to partner with them to plan and execute on statements of work. Our clients depend on us to organize the project with a clear path to developing the deliverables and delivering on their desired outcome.

Our clients are major healthcare providers and payors located in California. Our client contacts are typically the CEO, CFO, CIO, VP, and Director of these organizations.  We provide a wide array of services to our clients, so versatility and flexibility are attributes we seek and value highly.

Here’s a sample of the kind of work we do for our clients:

    • Manage the development of programs/products from concept through launch engaging all necessary functional areas including clinical, operations, strategy, information technology, regulatory, revenue cycle, business intelligence, and governance
    • Lead complex transformation projects that involve multiple organizations or departments – ensure that the project is on time, on budget, and delivered with the highest quality
    • Provide interim management, executive leadership and advisory services to clients in key functional areas and on their most strategic initiatives
    • Lead clients through strategy development to ensure a shared vision and roadmap for implementing new and improved business and IT capabilities
    • Lead projects helping our clients perform in the complex Affordable Care Act environment
    • Conduct operations assessments in a wide range of areas including health plan operations, ambulatory and acute care, revenue cycle, information technology, pharmacy, and laboratory among others
    • Specific responsibilities may include:
        • Develop project charters
        • Create detailed project plans and work breakdown schedules
        • Documenting analysis, options and recommendations
        • Update and manage issues and risks logs
        • Develop and maintain contingency plans
        • Prepare PowerPoint slide decks and status reports for communications
        • Create and maintain project budgets and “level of effort” cost estimates
        • Prepare for and facilitate project team meetings

We are seeking motivated, talented independent subcontractors to work and collaborate on special client projects; we've found that people with the following attributes tend to excel in these specialized roles:

    • A high degree of self-motivation, integrity, versatility and flexibility
    • Significant experience with all aspects of large cross-functional, transformational projects in healthcare
    • Ability to produce and lead others to deliver high quality deliverables and timely results
    • Ability to flex and work with a team or individually to provide highly specialized and/or technical expertise.
    • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
    • Experience and comfortable working at all levels of an organization, including physicians, nurses, other caregivers, executives, and management
    • Specialized and technical skills such as data analytics, data warehousing, software or database architecture
    • Experience with information system implementations and commonly used systems such as Epic, Cerner, NextGen, McKesson, Meditech, Sharepoint, Salesforce or similar systems is a plus
    • Willingness to travel on the West Coast may be necessary based on client needs
    • Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree, RN or other clinical expertise, PMP and Lean Six Sigma Certifications are a plus
