Freed Associates

Senior Program/Project Manager – Health Plan/Health Care

Freed Associates is a boutique healthcare consulting firm specializing in engagements for health plans, hospitals, physician practice groups, life sciences and related healthcare organizations based on the west coast. Since 1991 our clients have looked to us to ensure that their initiatives are completed successfully and without drama. We are continually expanding our team to meet consistent demand for our services.

Our team consists of top-notch industry professionals who know hospitals, acute care, ambulatory care, health plan, and pharma operations. We focus on meeting our clients’ needs, and helping to solve their problems. We offer a broad range of consulting services to address operational, regulatory, transformational, and management needs.  If you are frustrated by your current work, cross country travel schedule or lack of work/life balance, you should talk to us.

Here is a sample of the kind of work you might do for our clients:

  • Manage the development of programs/products from concept through launch engaging all necessary functional areas including operations, strategy, financial, clinical, regulatory, revenue cycle, business intelligence, governance, marketing and communications, and technology
  • Conduct operations assessments in a wide range of areas (e.g., health plan administration, ambulatory and acute care, revenue cycle, project management offices, information technology), prepare slide decks and deliver presentations to leadership
  • Drive complex transformation projects and ensure that the objectives are on time, on budget, and delivered with the highest quality
  • Lead clients through strategy development to ensure a shared vision and roadmap, and then implement new and improved business and IT capabilities
  • Frame up and manage projects helping our clients perform in the post Health Care reform environment, often bridging IT and operations
  • Provide executive leadership and advisory services to clients in key functional areas and on their most strategic initiatives
  • Specific responsibilities may include:
    • Interact with senior leadership and retain their confidence in delivery
    • Develop project charters, detailed project plans and work breakdown schedules
    • Conduct stakeholder analysis and drive alignment for future state objectives
    • Update and manage issues and risks logs
    • Develop and maintain contingency plans
    • Document analysis, options and recommendations
    • Prepare PowerPoint slide decks and status reports for communications
    • Create and maintain project budgets and “level of effort” cost estimates

Our clients’ employees are typically quite good at managing the day-to-day, recurring activities needed to run their operation. However, many of these employees have comparatively less experience at managing cross-functional, time sensitive, one-time projects that are unlikely to be repeated again.  This is where we step in to partner with them to plan and execute on a scope of work.  Our clients depend on us to organize the project with a clear path to developing the deliverables and delivering on their desired outcome.

Our clients are major healthcare providers and payors located in California. Our client contacts are typically the CEO, CFO, CIO, VP, and Directors of these organizations.  We provide a wide array of services to our clients, so versatility and flexibility are attributes we seek and value highly.

Our firm was founded on a few, simple ideas:

  • If we take good care of you, you will take good care of our clients
  • You want to be paid well and have challenging work, high caliber colleagues that push you to be better
  • You want the ability to build a career around work/life balance

We are proud of our long-standing commitment to these ideas; they are at the heart of how we treat our people. For example, we pay 100% of the cost of medical, dental, vision, long-term disability and life insurance for all employees.
